Yesterday, I arrived home at 4:30 PM. Like every day, Pablo, my boyfriend, was in the living room working on his computer. As soon as he heard the door, he looked at me, swiveling his office chair:
- I have to ask you a favor, sweetheart*.
- "Hello, love How was your day? I'm thrilled to see you too," I said with a sarcastic tone .
Pablo: - Sí, sí, perdón: Hola, amor. ¿Podrías explicarme cómo conseguir un certificado digital español? 💻
- Yes, yes, sorry: Hello, my love. Could you explain to me how to obtain a Spanish digital certificate?
¿Has arreglado la lámpara? 💡
- Okay, I'll tell you tonight. BY THE WAY*, did you do me the favor I asked for? Did you fix the lamp?
- Yes, done. Oh! AND ON ANOTHER NOTE*, we need to book the flights to Spain for this summer.
Irene: - Lo sé, mañana lo hacemos… CAMBIANDO DE TEMA*, ¿qué peli* quieres ver esta noche? 🍿
- I know, we'll do it tomorrow... CHANGING THE SUBJECT*, what movie* do you wanna watch?
- I want to watch Maktub, the movie you recommended in your newsletter in December.
En esta conversación nombramos varias tareas pendientes:
1. Ayudar a Pablo con el certificado
2. Arreglar la lámpara

Me he reído mucho porque a mí también me parece que ‘por cierto’ no debería significar ‘by the way’.
